What happened to Eddie Murphy? I was watching Trading Places the other night, it is a fucking awesome movie. I guess it was The Adventures Of Pluto Nash and alot of blow that made him so terrible.
Anyways, It is friday and i have got two great remixes for you. Both M83 remixes of songs off of the fantastic 2008 jam Saturdays=Youth. One from Yuksek and one from DatA both from M83's native france. Hit em'!

Carmine P. Filthy on his mix: The mix is my reflection on what New York City gives back when it's in top form. Most of the tracks are from NY artists, remixers or on an NY label. This mix is relentless, raw, unedited and most important- I had a blast cutting it. Thanks to Nicky for being one of the true gentlemen of the Big Apple. Let's get filthy.
LOS ANGELES – A blogger suspected of streaming songs from the unreleased Guns N' Roses album "Chinese Democracy" on his Web site was arrested Wednesday and appeared in court, where his bail was set at $10,000.
FBI agents arrested 27-year-old Kevin Cogill on Wednesday morning on suspicion of violating federal copyright laws. Cogill appeared in court in the afternoon wearing a T-shirt; his girlfriend sat court and afterward said, "Rally the troops," but declined further comment.
Federal authorities say Cogill posted nine unreleased Guns N' Roses songs on his Web site in June. The songs were later removed.
In later posts, Cogill wrote that the FBI had questioned him and asked his readers if any of them knew a good attorney. He was represented Wednesday by a federal public defender.
According to an arrest affidavit, Cogill admitted to agents that he posted the songs on his Web site. Prosecutors said Wednesday the leak could result in a "significant" financial loss for the band.
Cogill will not face any special Internet restrictions, but was ordered to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 17.
"Guns N' Roses representatives have been made aware of the arrests and are leaving the matter to the authorities," said Larry Solters, the band's spokesman.
"Chinese Democracy" is a much anticipated — and repeatedly delayed — new album by Guns N' Roses that is more than 10 years in the making. At least one of the album's songs could be heard legally: The band wrote on its Web site in July that its track, "Shackler's Revenge" will be featured on the video game Rock Band 2, slated for release in September.
----------
WTF Axel? You really think that these leaked songs will affect the sales of your shit record anyhow?
Seriously dude, take a long around...
You know how many people get fuck stupid rich and popular from purposeful leaks of their tracks? Any little bit of drummed up excitement over your old washed out ass should be appreciated and greeted with open fucking arms. But no, you and yours had to go on and be cocktards and throw a dude in jail for basically doing you a decent.
Hey Axel, try to do your best and remember these old adages;
Apologies for posting so late in the day, at my office today we had this all chicken potluck lunch and I have been slipping in and out of consciousness since 2 or so this afternoon. By my calculations, I think I had at 3.4 chickens when it was all said and done. There were so many delicious chicken theme dishes, I couldn't help but play fat skinny kid and fill my plate enough to make my grandma proud. It was well worth this food-induced coma I am experiencing now but that does not mean I can deny obligations... blog or die as they say.
So I have some various submissions from across the globe that have made their way to us here at Penned Madness HQ. Some have been blogged about before, some have not, but all are worth giving a listen in my book and I hope you feel the same...

First up, two tracks here are from a young chap from Cape Town South Africa, DJ Lapse. These two tracks have "small apartment dance party" written all over them, and that works for me, also I am a sucker for a Fatboy Slim sample. Lapse also has some pretty good mixes on his myspace as well...
Astrolabe, from Japan, wants to take over your bodies through their music and make you do ridiculous things with yourself on the dancefloor. The fist-pumpin' "FLAG" and the fevered dream of a video game character feel of "Will You Even Care '95," their remix of a Charlieboy track, will have you becoming fans in no time.
Hailing from the land of cheese and cocoa, our next act is Swiss sensations Division Kent. These lovely electronica heads named themselves, as I have gathered, after a street corner in Brooklyn where their musical ideas blossomed and gave fruit to their first album - Monsterproof. Enjoy some of their songs remixed below, good stuffs.
And by far my favorite tracks this post, Love Motel from Switzerland as well. I don't know too much about Love Motel, besides that I want to be like them always. Look at that picture after the tracks, they are straight sick Swiss dudes! Their beats are as sick as their style too. These guys have been on the repeat all day today for me, go on and get yourself some of their goodness below.
Tuesday is here, and you know what that means... New Tracks! Well, it's not like we aren't trying to post new tracks everyday but on Tuesday especially, we try to post tracks that we wanna see turn into dancefloor gold. The jams that when people hear them drop for the first time, they walk up to you spinning and are compelled to ask; "Yo, my good DJ. What pray tell is the name of this Jammy Jam?"
That awesome feeling we all love - when people recognize you got your shit together, that you are going to do your job by showing them new shit and not just going to feed them something easy like Paper Planes...again...and again...
and again...........
----------
Starting this post off is an exclusive track from our favorite new artisit, Black Holes. Straight from our inbox to you the people comes the latest from these eager up starts. "War Drums" is fucking sick, and even if you don't read the rest of this post and just grab this track...I will feel like I have done my job as a blogger.
P.S - Cheers to Uh Oh Disco! to turning us on to to this guys, much love.
P.P.S - The boys of Black Holes are also contributors to Hot Biscuits, check that shit out if you don't already know about awesome things...
----------
Count and Sinden team up with Rye Rye to bring this gem, "Hardcore Girls." Rye Rye may be only 17 right now, but she will straight stab you if you cross her - that's what a hardcore girl does. Rye Rye keeps it real, what can you do...
Thanks Glitter & Gold, we had an older mix from 4 years ago but this is hotter.
----------
From Ludachrist, and found on Palms Out, comes this mess of wonderful. Taking the exploits of an off-kilter bi-polar woman having an episode and putting it to a killer beat, Classic.
Don't know about the MARTA Girl? Damn, tighten up folks...
----------
Ok ok, I now I might have send something earlier about "Paper Planes, blah blah blah" but this remix is worth a post. From our boys Starters, other recent favorites of Penned Madness, comes this reworking of every "bad-ass" suburban girls favorite song. I am not knocking the song so much, but it certainly was not the best track on "Kala," not by far...and doesn't need to be the only thing you fucking wanna hear during the night. The Starters remix though is exactly the way I always envisioned remixes of this song going, not ever so slight variations of the original stamped out on wax quickly to hype up the release of a movie (except the Scottie B version, which is amazing). This below is a sped up dance monster of a track...
What an interesting weekend it has been...First as you now, my house flooded... After fully realizing its dreams of being a kiddie pool this weekend, my apartment has now decided that it is content being just an apartment and all water related activity has now subsided. Also this weekend, I briefly mentioned I blew my knee out Friday night. That made for a great weekend right there, hobbling to and fro. Luckily though I have this bad ass London Fog umbrella (it's huge, like a 6 foot wingspan) and the handle to it is cane shaped, with a solid wood bit at the top of the umbrella. So that made getting around easier, until last night when I stumbled upon some crutches in the girl's garage. I switched to the crutch rather than the brellacane due to the fact the crutches have little rubber stoppy bits on the end...
So now by Dexterity has increased by +2 but my Charisma has decreased -3... That's what you get when you wish to not further injury yourself with a banana peel slip type fall.
In addition to floods and falls, I was sent two tracks from New York electronic artist, Almamy. Originally born in Dakar, Senegal, Almamy went on the study dance in Paris during the 90's and in New York some time in 2002. Almamy seemed to also have a hankering to make some music as well. Working with his own label (ModyWorks), Almamy is managing to release several EPs and mixes, with a double A-side single dropping in August before an official LP release.
Here are the two tracks below, "French Kiss" and a remix of "Like You Do." Personally I dig the Like You Do Remix better than the French Kiss track. French Kiss has a solid beat but the accompanying vocals seem a bit out of place, seems like it would make a solid remix itself. But that's just my opinion.
Here we have a fucking stellar edit of one of my favorite artists of all time, Mr. Paul Simon - a man who can do no wrong in my eyes. Below is a edit of one of Simon's classics, "Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes," from the classic album "Graceland" by one Tangoterje. I don't know much about Tangoterje but I would like to, so if anyone has any information about this dude, send it our way.
And lastly, here is a cute little jam I found over at Waves at Night. It really needs no explanation, just sit back and enjoy... but think to yourself, "remix?"
Right now my apartment is flooding and I fear we will lose power soon so I wanted to get some posting in before I have to bust out the "Rainy Day Activity Chest" (read: Whiskey in Plastic Bottles). See, I live in this quaint little apartment built into a hill... and well, we're like half underground to begin with, which makes it very convenient during hot/cool/having an awesome place to live days but not rainy ones... Speaking of rain...
If you didn't know, rain is green when seen from space... Tallahassee and I am currently located right under that large mess of green right there... We are getting something like 4 inches an hour today, so this lovely water in my living room isn't going away for a while...
ALSO, I threw my knee out last night at a party and I am limping around the house today as well... So yeah, if shit does go down, my swollen flesh pole of a leg and I aren't much help to anyone...
So the Rainy Day Activity Chest and I are going to have some fun, here are some tracks that you can enjoy with your own Acitivity Chest (still read: Whiskey in Plastic Bottles)
The Sound Of Arrows is a new Labrador artist based in, of course, Sweden. Their new EP is Danger! And it is pretty killer Dance Pop. This is that title track Remixed by Sweden's remix wizard, Mr Pedro. It's catchy as fuck and i can't seem to get it out of my head.
Bloc Party flipped out and released their new record Digital-only like, yesterday to curb leaking. Their 3rd LP is entitled "Intimacy", it's badass, and it is 10 bucks at their Official Site. It is going to be released in physical form on October 27. Here is a new track entitled "Trojan Horse".
Whenever my father purchases anything technological, he waits until I visit him in Maryland before he even attempts to read a manual - his reasoning being: "reading the damn manual just makes it more confusing." My father is 54 years old, born and raised in Sumter (Butt-Fuck), South Carolina, and a retired Master Sergeant of the U.S. Air Force. His unwillingness to dabble in "complicated" electronics has really come as a surprise to me recently, especially since he pretty much collects really expensive electronics, most of which he acquired while stationed in Japan during the 80s. I guess things are just getting a little too complicated for my old Pop.
Anyhow, my father has taken the step to convert his LP collection to MP3 format; his LP collection boasts damn near one thousand records, all of which are alphabetized in a catalog. This, of course, is where I come in. This past winter, my dad purchased the Stanton T.90 USB turntable (and yes, he and I are just now fucking with it) from turntable lab.
The turntable also comes with Cakewalk Pyro 5 software, which makes it quite simple to record a whole side of a record at a time and separate the tracks manually by using the "split" tool.
There are still plenty of features that I haven't messed with yet, but so far I'm digging the included format conversion tool and the capability to save multiple audio files at once to your desired format, as well as in 320 kbp/s. Also, you are given the option to burn the ripped files directly to a disc.
However, for you digital DJs out there who are annoyed with shitty audio quality, I have ripped several songs from vinyl to 320 kbp/s with the Cakewalk software so you can judge for yourselves and snatch a few if you'd like.
Man have I been on a huge Orbital kick lately..... Too bad I'm just now re-discovering them (yes I had the Hackers soundtrack, and the mortal kombat soundtrack before that...and the saint soundtrack...but I mean, you know, I was 11 years old...it was all just music to listen to whilst playing Q-zar) Anyway, it turns out that they had one of the sickest/most kick ass live shows of all time ever and made millions of nineties raver faces melt. Sadly they're lastperformance was at the Glastonbury festival in 2004(clips of this are available on youtube and are absolutely amazing)
A note to contemporary electronic dance artists....until you start actually performing black magic live on stage with unnecessarily complicated hardware and gigantic mixing consoles, invoking the presence of baphomet into crowds of thousands, I'm gonna give it a pass and stay home praying for an orbital reunion, or the next daft punk tour, or a time machine to take me to glastonbury 95.
I can't tell which of these clips I like better; This one that is gloriously mtv, ibiza, in the nineties:
Or this one where they actually call upon the dark lord via the magic of sampling:
Here's some live rips from the bonus disk to their album "Insides":
This is a track from nickY & Rude Estudes from Cannes region of France. These guys sent me an email today with a link to the track below, Ma Benz, and I was blown away. It's like these two robbed my brain of the all the things I like and find awesome in the middle of the night, but then came back in the morning with all these things either fixed or improved, somehow made...more awesome.
And right before I was going to submit this entire post, I found this track from Discodust. I told myself I didn't want to post anymore Katy Perry remixes, because they are fuckin' everywhere, but this fucker just says to be written about.
Quix Los Angeles' Quix has just come out with a new mixtape and has been gracious enough to give us at Penned Madness the head's up. The mix, entitled Devil Music, is the efforts of Quix himself and his producing cohort Elliot. These two have teamed up to bring something that all the kids will enjoy.
No shit, this is one of the best mixes I have heard in a good minute. Now some of the songs aren't the most topical, but I subscribe to the school of thought that a good mix doesn't need to be briming with every recent banger from the past 2 weeks to actually be good. A good mix needs to-and I know it sounds cliche but-tell a story... not just be filled with killer OONTZ OONTZ. Quix and Elliot both get gold stars for just that, for weaving such a stunning story and keeping my toes tapping for a solid 37 minutes.
Elliot
Devil Music is skillfully blended and constructed in a way to properly appeal to damn near everyone; hip-hop heads, indie fucks, remix kids and even those oblivious to the awesome that is modern party music will get behind this mix.
Only people that hate fun and dancing will ignore this mix and fuck those people anyway right?
Remember that little town in Footloose, this would be the bane of their existence.
Be sure to check your copy of the mix below, and check out these boy's respective myspaces. And if you feel so inclined, Quix has a proper website (weird) as well, http://www.itsquix.com/

That's exactly what this young man intends to do just as soon as you get that motherfuckin' camera out of his motherfuckin' face... He is going to show these girls what exactly happens when you throw the 'shocker' up after a big-win game...
butt hurt, that's what.
This isn't a Dane Cook special ladies, you are going to receive intrusions in several areas of your anatomy that follow the "-ink" rhyme scheme...
I found that picture and just had to post it up... also found a smooth ass Blaqstarr track, Crystal Castles remake and a Digitalism track that has been making its rounds...
Well hello there... Didn't hear you come in. What I am doing you ask? Well, I am organizing a set for tonight. Just going through some tracks I have found this weekend and such, hoping that they will be giant banger successes.
Hey, I have an idea... Would you like to help? Would you like to listen to some of these tracks and see if they make you dance?
Yeah?
Ok then, well let's go! :: magical wispy segue music::
First one here, I got from Glitter and Gold, our good friends in Orlando...
So here is something special I found in the ole' inbox yesterday, a new Cousin Cole remix. It is a remix of the experimental NYC based project Men and Women's latest release, entitled "South America." Cole is personal friends with these guys and was asked, along with Elliott Lipp, to lay down some mixes for Men and Women's first release off of War and Moon records.
I am totally digging this mix; it's solid, it's layered wonderfully and it shows that thought and care was put into it. This isn't a slapped together beat repeat hack-job, but a piece clearly done by an old friend for an old friend. And that's what I like to see nowadays personally.
I have included both the original and the remix below.
I know we have been talking a lot about Oh Snap! a lot recently, but we like who we like and that types of shit will happen. Snap! is getting ready to begin a tour of our favorite country/continent Australia and throw down with the rest of our APM favorites in the Land Downunder. In that spirit, he has released another mix in promotion of the tour. Oh Snap!'s last mix "Two SNAPs with a Twist Mixx" won over all of our hearts and this mix will do just the same.
Track Listing: 1. Untitled – OH SNAP!! 2. Let's Go – DJ Technics 3. Meet Her at the Love Parade (Act Yo Age Remix) – Da Hool 4. Party Like Us (Bulgarian Rave Like Us Remix) – AC Slater 5. Rooted – Hostage 6. Sveglia (OH SNAP!! Booty Alarm Mix) – Crookers 7. Parrot Attack – Sound of Stereo 8. For Da Real G's – Kazey & Bulldog 9. This Shit (OH SNAP!! Remix) – Douster 10. Everyday Hustle – B. Rich 11. High Top Fade (DJ Kue's Squirrel Funk Remix) – OH SNAP!! 12. You Fakin' – OH SNAP!! 13. African Chant – King Tutt 14. Bad Man Horror Theme – A1 Bassline 15. P***y Minded (Don Rimini Remix) – Verb 16. Falling Out (Riva Starr Remix) – OH SNAP!! 17. Party All the Time – OH SNAP!! 18. Lollipop (Boy 8-Bit Remix) – Mika 19. Cross the Dancefloor (OH SNAP!! Remix) – Treasure Fingers 20. Blow Ya P***y Up (OH SNAP!! Remix) – Tapp 21. Everything Cool – Foamo 22. Take It to the House – Trick Daddy
Also, an Oh Snap! pressed release will be out shortly - stayed tuned, odds are will be posting some of the tracks...
I just had to post these tracks I found today... They are too good not to share... I am so going to throw them into my set tonight, I'll tell you how they fair tomorrow.
This first one, I discovered when I was asked by my boss to find the "Olympic Anthem" to use in our office's version of the Olympics... Yes, I work in one of those wacky offices...
This gem I discovered from our new friend over at UhOhDisco.com. Go check out that shit when you get the chance, Stephen of Uh Oh Disco! loves this dance shit just as much as we at Penned Madness do. And if you love dance music, then you'll love Stephen - see how that works?
And finally, some tracks from DLake's lastest EP; the sequel to his hit mixtape "Bmore Of a Hipster Vol. 1" comes "Bmore Of a Hipster Vol. 2" Catchy ain't it...Oh it is. Cop yourself one at Turntable Lab and such.
All links to and regarding MP3's are strictly for sampling and evaluation purposes.
Please help the musicians listed on this site by purchasing their record, CD, tracks, etc. Turntable Lab, iTunes and Beatport are good starting places for purchasing music...
All links to MP3s will be removed at the request of the artist or their respective label.
