I came across Subliminal on Soundcloud , and as it seems , I was late on the game! A lot of people are supporting his music , and this post is so hopefully you will too. All this stuff is cheeky heavy bass music , and it's been slaying people during my sets. Being a Marvel nerd , my favorite out of these four is 'The Juggernaut' , fast drums and crunched bass for the win. The track 'Outlandish' reminds me of King Koopa making dubstep in his castle , and 'Drums Please!' is just a fucking nutty percussion track that is not to be overlooked! I let you handle the Baggy Bottom Boys bootleg , it's grade A bass. He also remixed my single 'Torture' for the official remix ep which is out soon , so keep a eye on this blog for a post about that! All of these have their download link enabled , so grab em up! Enjoy!
Well it's almost the end of summer and you know it means it's time for a new F*** The Heat!!!
I'm pretty stoked about it. It's a 40 minute mix of baby-punching madness. With some new shit and some "old" shit all tossed into the pot I hope it won't disappoint!

M.I.A. + Sebastien Tellier = Pure Sexiness. The man with the sexy beats meets the woman with the sexy voice in this ultra-smooth mashup. This is what it would sound like if Tellier and M.I.A. made some babies.
Since Halloween is the best holiday ever , I've started working on a free ep of covers of Halloween/Horror music. This is the first one that is finished , it's called 'The Phantom'. 'The Phantom' is a heavy bassline track based on the Overture from 'The Phantom of the Opera'. If you know my music , then you know what to expect here , big pianos and grinding bass. Grab the free download from my soundclound and make sure to keep this in your goodie bag for your Halloween gigs! Enjoy!
I know I posted this a few days ago, but this time I am going to make sure the links on the post work. Modified Noise - End of The Summer Mix - Rock On...
The Lempo and Japwow Project consists of two producers who have come together over their love of house music.
Having their first track signed to major label Cr2 records and due out in the next few months "The Lempo and Japwow Project" is bringing house music with a twist to your ears. Their second track is a jacking house influenced dutch style track. Mixing up big room dutch house synths with crazy jacked up house beats. Gaining support already from major dj's and gathering the attention of big labels from their start this project is set to explode into 2011. Special thanks to WoNked Records out in the UK for the tip on his fresh project!
Our 10th Penned Madness Session on Digitally Imported was yesterday and we were thankful enough to have a murderous mix from fellow blogger and Chi-Town resident Dani Deahl. We have been following Ms. Deahl's work since we started PM and are happy to be able to show her some much deserved love.
Dani's latest mix is a collection of tunes that folks have sent to her over the past few months, in which she has then blogged about. Wreaking havoc globally, NumberNin6’s rich schizophrenic sound enjoys support by international dubstep titans including Skream, Rusko, N-Type, Plastician, and Bassnectar, as well as BBC Radio 1 DJ’s Mistjam and Annie Mac. NumberNin6 (aka Nishant Parikh) whose production began in the trance scene is a master of dichotomy who meticulously fuses stark contrasts -- aggressive vs. mellow, darkness vs. light -- into dance floor napalm.
Below are PREVIEWS (128kbps) of NumberNin6's tracks / You would be foolish to play these quality copies out at the club for people... Head over to Beatport and pick up the set, it's only a couple hundred pennies of pete's sake...
NumberNin6 - Garbage GARBAGE intros with menacing lyrics and a series of warning bass stabs that evoke a grimey ghetto scenario. After the drop, all hell breaks loose with a wicked NumberNin6 signature bassline and cracking snares. This is an absolute dubstep anthem and has done its fair share of destruction worldwide. For reals.
NumberNin6 - Hunt You Down HUNT YOU DOWN begins with a haunting flute melody that winds its way up a mountain, then unloads with a massive barrage of machine gun bass stabs guaranteed to cause speaker damage and crowd destruction.
Received some of the happiest news in my young life today... One of my favorite bands has decided to do a few reunion shows, hopefully to test the waters on joining back up and making music good again.
The Dismemberment Plan, who split in 2003, are doing a few dates in the northeast after the time a reissue of one of their best works, Emergency & I, is re-released on vinyl.
I really am not a good enough writer to describe how much this band has meant to me during my formative and un-formative years, but to have the chance to see them back together again on stage is something I cannot pass up.
The dates in this celebration include;
01/21/11 – Washington, D.C @ Black Cat 01/22/11 – Washington, D.C. @ 9:30 Club 01/27/11 – Philadelphia, PA @ The Starlight Ballroom 01/28/11 – Boston, MA @ Paradise 01/29/11 – New York, NY @ Webster Hall
**Tickets go on sale Friday at respective box offices**
Track wise, here a few of my favs, but honestly there are almost no Dismemberment Plan songs I don't enjoy... D-Plan Forever!
So the good folks over at Pioneer are having a competition at letsmix.com, and they are giving away a DJM-2000 to whoever sends them the most impressive DJ mix. Naturally when I found out about this I figured that it couldn't hurt to enter the competition. The only requirements are that the mix must be 25-45 minutes long and that it must receive at least 50 votes to get to the final panel of judges who are Pioneer employees themselves. Below I have embeded the mix into the page, so GO LISTEN AND VOTE!
Also, I have made a few tracks featured in the mix available for download, all in 320Kbps so they are ready to be dropped in clubs, house parties, pool parties, and your grandmother's '84 sedan without you having to worry about them sounding like compressed crud.
All of these songs are great tracks, they include a couple electro bangers, my favorite M.I.A. song, and my favorite Kid Sister/Nina Sky track.
Here is the mix! The link to vote is below the mix.
Nicole and Natalie Albino, better known to the world as Nina Sky have been rocking shit for awhile now. We all remember their hit songs from a few years ago, no need to mention them again - this is not your 2004 self's Nina Sky anymore...
Since then the sisters have been hard at work with several greats in the game, one of the most notable, Major Lazer on "Guns Don't Kill People, Lazers Do" (appearing on one of the best songs on the album in this writer's opinion).
But everything hasn't been sugar and rainbows for Nina Sky. After troubles with their label over the release of their second album ("Starting Today"), Nina Sky decided to part ways and just do shit themselves.
Over a month ago, Nina Sky self-released an EP entitled "The Other Side" through their website to the public for free ninety nine. The EP contains some of the tracks that were going to be on the album and honestly, if I was their label I'd be kicking myself right about now.
I found the EP earlier today and it's seriously been playing on repeat since I unzipped the folder...
Below are some of my favorite tracks... and you can grab the whole album for free here... get it...
I got a nice and tight mash up between Fake Blood's "I Think I Like It" and Richard Vision's "I Like That" from San Diego based DJ/Producer Coda Collins.
It's simple, tastayyy and definitely ready for the floor.
Here's another track that I've been getting down too. It's a house and tribed out Emynd blend of Them Jean's "Balloons" and Bad Yard Club's "In De Ghetto".
The tracks contained within this post were made with the hopes of impressing the girl I fancy. The woman that has caught my eye is remarkably considerate and gracious - her poise and intelligence is refreshing to witness - her beauty has few equals and her inspiring presence, even less so...
All in all, just a pure delight to be around and I would like to do more of that.
She also is a pretty big dance music and mash-up fan. After seeing Twin Sister and The Hood Internet in Tallahassee at the engine room, I thought I could do something sweet for her... and here we are...
Yes, this is a totally selfish post I am making and it's something that we don't normally encourage here at Penned Madness buuuuuuuuut it is with good reason... and hopefully it works...
Young Frenchman NEUS is back with another one. The track titled "Porn" is a nasty litle bangaroo, with a dirty sample NSFW but ready for the floor. Peep it belowwww.
A couple weeks back, Style of Eye & Slagsmalsklubben's released their single "Homeless" on a Fool's Gold Records along with a handful of remixes. Check out NEUS and Busy P's (head honcho at Ed Banger Records) tasty electro house remix in the Fairitilizer player belowwww.
Over the last few months, a singular but powerful voice has been gracing 12” singles, DJ mixes (from the likes ofDrop the Lime,Sharkslayer,French Fries/Senta & others) & dance floors around the world. From Polish production duo (& recent Trouble & Bass signing)Supra1’s dubstep banger “Still Believe”, to the funky soulful NYC house grooves ofAnnex’s “Miracle Mile”, to the classic 90’s rave vibe of “The Feeling” by 92 Eternal (the brainchild of Brooklyn heavy bass champA.C. Slater, with additional vox from Milwaukee hipster rapperJuiceboxxx), one voice elevates each track with soul, sass, & sophistication, & that voice belongs to one woman -Amy Douglas.
NYC native & Boston resident Amy Douglas, equal parts Chaka Khan, Sarah Vaughan, Donna Summer, P-Funk & Led Zeppelin, prowls the Earth like a musical & visual chameleon (one look at the “Boobies” video that made Gawker go ga-ga will explain why). She is armed with a 5 octave vocal range, holds a degree in music & composition from NYU, has the ability to also sing in multiple languages, plays piano, an audiophile’s collection of mics in her home studio, & a penchant for music’s debaucherous side. With such weapons at her disposal, she not only brings her voice to others’ material, but she’s also capable of transforming someone else’s stab at a dancefloor banger into a bona-fide crossover hit.
Having come up the ranks as part of Downtown NYC’s artsy underground gay rock club scene as a member of the Squeezebox band, & after a brief stint as 1/2 of the “post disco” duo Koko Dozo (who’s bi-lingual single “Boomchi” was featured on Showtime’s “The L Word”), she was invited to a one-on-one jamming & musical brainstorming studio session with T&B head honcho Drop The Lime who thought of Amy when his partner in crime A.C. Slater “needed a big intense vocal” for his new project 92 Eternal & his most recent T&B signing, Polish duo Supra1, for their debut single “Still Believe”. From there, word of Amy’s talents continued to spread (notably thru word of mouth from people like tastemaker & Paper Magazine Editor At Large Peter Davis), and as such NYC’s fabulous House of Stank team contacted her to sing on a classic house tune called "The Sound" & from there, all producer/DJ/remixers looking to get on-board with the “diva du jour” started calling. Interesting, considering Amy sees herself more as “a music nerd who can blow, than a diva”.
While Amy’s aforementioned feature vocal work may have trumpeted her arrival to many dance music fans, she’s got more flavors comin’ than Baskin Robbins. Coming soon to eardrums near you are three projects, of which she is the anchor, writer & co-producer.
Amy brings the funk with Bootsy Collins bass prodigy Freekbass & turntablist/rapper/producer Tobotius as BAMela, a three-piece so dope that even the aforementioned Mr. Collins had to bring some noise on these party-starters’ first single “I Do It Like”. Feel this funk!
Discokaina, Amy’s collaboration with Bogota-via-NYC producer Rubio Res, sounds exactly like it reads, fusing Latin rhythms with electro, disco, rock, & more than a little sleaze. Soon to be supplying the world party from Colombia to the District of Columbia - but for now, have a bump!
(& since its Fashion Week & all here in NYC, y’all should have this lil nugget they dropped back in the spring, a little ditty called “Fashion Magazine”, which got tastemakers Sheena Beaston and the aforementioned Editor at Large for Paper Magazine Peter Davis verrry hot and bothered. What better a time to put it in your ears than now?)
SPF5000 is the third, & perhaps most unusual of all of Amy’s projects. The Boston-based duo (Ms. Douglas & producer Rob Phillips) answers the never asked question “what if The Eurythmics grew up on a steady diet of French electro, NY & Italo Disco, ‘80’s Bronx Freestyle, & dirty house?”
Not knowing how to rest on her laurels, Amy’s got a slew of other featured vocal works & collabs comin’ round the bend, contributing her talents to upcoming tracks by NYC’s Team Facelift, Finnish Top Billin crew production duo Sharkslayer, UK bass & dubstep merchants Raffertie & Grievous Angel, the next 92 Eternal single, Discokaina remixes from NYC’s DJ Nita & B’more legend Scottie B, & a hotly anticipated collaboration with The Juan MacLean, Amy’s vox might just give the Pitbulls, Lil Jons & Weezys some competition for “most popular voice to get on your track if you want a club anthem”.
Modified Noise has just released their end of the summer mix and thought you fine people of the net would like to check it out. Go grab some of the totally tubular tracks below!
