Through The Prism

Our good friends Michael & Theo (aka Designer Drugs) have (finally, ahem) dropped their new and first single from their long anticipated (and overdue, ahem) album, Hardcore/Softcore (coming out on Ultra Records). Their single, Through The Prism is an Electro/Hip-Hop dance floor destroyer that will definitely having you spill your drink while dancing. It's vocals courtesy of fellow Brooklynite, Cerebral Vortex and a killer portamento'd melody that gives more homage to the Dutch then it does to anything we've heard from these two BAMF's before.

Subdrive Takes over CMJ

Our boys at Subdrive are planning a takeover at this year's CMJ events. Tonight DC meets NYC at their 3rd annual CMJ Showcase! This year they've brought up some close friends, a new face, and the rest of the crew to rock the upstairs of Gallery Bar in the LES!

Now, most of the Subdrive crew is originally from the DC metro area, and they are plenty proud to have so many guests from their old stomping grounds.

Repeat Offenders - Mad Arrogant

Repeat Offenders, the collaboration of DJ’s B.O.N.S. & Vadum Rankin, are two of the most arrogant folks you'll ever meet... and with good reason. These boys maybe new to the scene but in their short time they have been main support for a slew of friggin' huge artists, been playing all over their local stomping grounds of Boston and are the newest members of the PH Recordings Family.

Now the duo has released their first single on Beatport entitled “Bring that Bass Back.” It's a bouncy and dirty track, full of audio pheromones that will send every on the dancefloor into a tizzy. Remember that scene in "Event Horizon" where they see the footage of the previous ship and what happen to the crew... it's like that just with less space travel involved.

Get out of my head... or not?

So this writer doesn't listen to much mainstream radio, like none at all - zero. Not trying to sound like a 'cool kid' or anything, it just doesn't happen. Well, this past week I personally spent an inordinate amount of time in a car, like stircrazy Chevy Chase in "Vacation" time, and I only had regional Florida hip-hop stations to musically guide me during this madcap adventure.

A byproduct of that much time listening the radio being that, at the moment, there are currently about 14 different 'chart toppers' battling for supremacy in my headpiece - one of them being the "electro"/hip-hop outfit Far East Movement. Don't know much about FEM besides that they have some pretty addicting music and very high self esteems - eager to see what constant radio play and internet love will mean for these boys... we shall soon find out...

So anyways, yes, we know everyone has been keen to this song for a minute but remixes are popping up lately so why not post'm up. Included in this here post is the original choon (which is plenty dance-y enough) and two remixes that I am personally enjoying at the moment...

It's been a second since we have got some new freebies from LA's monster duo Dskotek. This tune their handing out reminds me of the exact music the kids over there prefer , nutty dutch madness! The build is up quite progressive and automatically brings a hype tension to the dance floor , once it drops its full on with sirens and big room drums. Calvertron

Now I don't normally post about releases and such without anything to download , but this release deserves some shine. We all know Calvertron's work , he has always been hustling some banging tunes out for all of us to play.
Over the past couple releases he has been doing a lot of LFO work and furthering his sound even more , and if you know me then you know I'd giddy about proper bassline stuff. So his last release on Jack Knife Records (which he runs) just dropped and has started to chart , I wanted to expose this to you in-case you overlooked it.
