James, Phil, Kathy and I took a trip up to Atlanta to see Cut Copy and The Presets, Saturday. We left around 2 p.m. so we could go shopping at H&M and get a bite to eat in the city before the show.
Everything was going to plan until we ran out of gas on I-75, about nine miles away from our destination, because all of Georgia was out of fuel. We ended up spending $60 to have a tow truck driver, who got in an accident right next to us on the interstate, bring us three gallons of gas.
Not knowing how we would make it home with barely a quarter tank of gas, we made it to The Masquerade for a pretty decent show. Both bands, though The Presets' was better, had a really awesome light show. We were on the second story of the venue and the floor felt like we were in a bounce castle from everyone dancing.
After the show, the four of us called every person in our phones and did everything we could think of to try and find a place with gas or some shelter for the night. Three hours later, we finally got word of a gas station 10 miles away that actually had fuel. We made it there on what little fumes were left in my car and got back to Gainesville safely.
It was a pretty stressful and hopeless situation, but playing Osborne in my head helped make things bearable. If you ever find yourself in a situation like this, try giving these a listen.
