Sunday Funday!

Hey everyone, I think I'm a bit overdue for an appearance on here so lets get to it! Today I have compiled a hodgepodge of tunes from various genres that I have been enjoying lately.

Lets start out with some unreleased Deadmau5 shall we? Here's the best quality (320) version of the unreleased monster jam "Catbread", which I've been supporting big time lately.

Up next is the massive massive MASSIVE remix of Sidney Samson's choon "Riverside", brilliantly re-done here by Rene Amesz. Stormer of a tune with bouncy bass, beats, and a huge build up. To my surprise I heard Boys Noize drop this remix during his set at Ultra Music Festival, a total switch up in his set from nasty driving beats to something more latin/tribal (I use those terms loosely, its not really a tribal-esque track). Needless to say the crowd went wild. Enjoy.

Last but not least is a killer mashup done by young gun Austin Snyder. I know what you're thinking...ANOTHER version of Bounce? Yes, but this one is quite fantastic. Excellent vocal editing and a perfect track to compliment the said sample. If you like tough basslines, some break beats and huge buildups...don't miss out! By the way, this is a Penned Madness exclusive so enjoy ya lucky bastards!

Deadledger5?

Just wanted to stop by here really quick and post possibly two of of my top 10 favorite house tracks of 2008. Both happen to come from the same new release off of Mistakes Music. Sebastien Ledger (one of my favorite producers of all time, and one of the best producers in 2008 in my opinion) does nothing short of blowing my freakin' mind into pieces. This latest release makes great use of organic sounds and nasty beats. Here are my two favorite tracks from this release, "Majuro" (a warmer, more set building tune) and "Broken Clock" (a more massive peak hour electro monster) which is remixed by none other than Deadmau5. NJOI!

This is Dangerou5

Some of you out there on teh internets may have heard my mashup of Busta Rhymes -Dangerous, and Deadmau5 vs Jelo - The Reward Is Cheese. Since its leak back in late 07, it caught on pretty damn well. The mashup has received play at clubs such as The Church in Denver, and by DJs in Canada, London, Germany, and Florida (notably DJ DC, DJ Robert F, Rhoan Descartes, The Digitalist, and others). Well, turns out Deadmau5 decided to give the original The Reward Is Cheese a new twist, with quite the creative name: "The Reward Is MORE Cheese". With WMC rolling around in a few months, I couldn't resist but revive this old mashup with the new version of the Cheese by Mau5trap label owner/Deadmau5, Joel Zimmerman. The original track has a pretty epic build up that was stolen for a lot of other productions that year, and includes everything you would expect from the mau5: Kicks like a proper curb stomping, basslines rough enough to peel the paint off your bedroom walls in yo mommas basement, and synths sharp enough to cut your corpus callosum right down the middle like a brain surgeon.

The new mix is just as tasty as the first, with a few new bells and whistles, really, its not that much different, but a good excuse for me to re-do the mashup so I can play it again without being bored :)

Deadmau5 Works With Kool and The Gang?!

Deadmau5 vs Kool and the Gang? Yep. Have I lost my mind? Maybe. Either way, this brainchild of a mashup has been getting killer responses through Digitally Imported Radio, and more specifically my inbox. So I figure, why not make it a Penned Madness exclusive? If you haven't heard of Deadmau5, you're probably living under a rock. If you haven't heard of Kool and the Gang...you may be living in a cave! Where I got the idea for this is beyond me, maybe it was from listening to Deadmau5's recently massive release "Hi Friend", after listening to Jungle Boogie off of the Pulp Fiction sound track one too many times. I don't ask questions.

Combining the thickly sliced bass sounds of perhaps biggest electro house producer to date, the masters of feel good funk, edits, cuts, loops, detunes and a little sweat, I give you Kool & The Gang vs Deadmau5 & MC Flipside - Jungle Friend (Mark Starr's Jungle Boogie Beatz Mashup).
