Sunday Funday!

Hey everyone, I think I'm a bit overdue for an appearance on here so lets get to it! Today I have compiled a hodgepodge of tunes from various genres that I have been enjoying lately.

Lets start out with some unreleased Deadmau5 shall we? Here's the best quality (320) version of the unreleased monster jam "Catbread", which I've been supporting big time lately.

Deadmau5 - Catbread (Original Mix)

Up next is the massive massive MASSIVE remix of Sidney Samson's choon "Riverside", brilliantly re-done here by Rene Amesz. Stormer of a tune with bouncy bass, beats, and a huge build up. To my surprise I heard Boys Noize drop this remix during his set at Ultra Music Festival, a total switch up in his set from nasty driving beats to something more latin/tribal (I use those terms loosely, its not really a tribal-esque track). Needless to say the crowd went wild. Enjoy.

Sidney Samson - Riverside (Rene Amesz Remix)

Last but not least is a killer mashup done by young gun Austin Snyder. I know what you're thinking...ANOTHER version of Bounce? Yes, but this one is quite fantastic. Excellent vocal editing and a perfect track to compliment the said sample. If you like tough basslines, some break beats and huge buildups...don't miss out! By the way, this is a Penned Madness exclusive so enjoy ya lucky bastards!

Farace and Stacy Osorio vs MSTRKRFT and N.O.R.E. - Dont Be Afraid To Bounce(Austin Snyder Mashup).mp3

That's it for me today, expect me to return within the next day or two for more tasty beats! Take it easy everyone and keep it freshhhh.

This is Dangerou5

Some of you out there on teh internets may have heard my mashup of Busta Rhymes -Dangerous, and Deadmau5 vs Jelo - The Reward Is Cheese. Since its leak back in late 07, it caught on pretty damn well. The mashup has received play at clubs such as The Church in Denver, and by DJs in Canada, London, Germany, and Florida (notably DJ DC, DJ Robert F, Rhoan Descartes, The Digitalist, and others). Well, turns out Deadmau5 decided to give the original The Reward Is Cheese a new twist, with quite the creative name: "The Reward Is MORE Cheese". With WMC rolling around in a few months, I couldn't resist but revive this old mashup with the new version of the Cheese by Mau5trap label owner/Deadmau5, Joel Zimmerman. The original track has a pretty epic build up that was stolen for a lot of other productions that year, and includes everything you would expect from the mau5: Kicks like a proper curb stomping, basslines rough enough to peel the paint off your bedroom walls in yo mommas basement, and synths sharp enough to cut your corpus callosum right down the middle like a brain surgeon.

The new mix is just as tasty as the first, with a few new bells and whistles, really, its not that much different, but a good excuse for me to re-do the mashup so I can play it again without being bored :)

Here's both the original version of the mashup, and the new one (a penned madness exclusive)

Wild Salmon Wednesdays?

Hey everyone, Mark Starr here again bringing you a new tasty mashup fresh off my laptop. Just finished this today, making it a Penned Madness exclusive. I combined the now classic tune "The Salmon Dance" by The Chemical Brothers, with Club Life by Mowgli. Perfect for you fans of fidget style electro house, and anyone who just loves shakin' it like a salmon floating upstream. Combines some serious vocal cuts, splices of synths from the original Salmon Dance, detuned vocals and some thick & wobbly Mowgli beats that are sure to get the club shakin'.

I also want to thank everyone who has helped my last mashup climb up the charts on Hype Machine in the last 72 hours to break into the top 25 most popular tunes! You still have today to support this track in getting it up to the top of the list so click here to get to the tracks page, and hit the "heart" button to favorite it if you like it! Okay okay, enough shameless plugging, here's the new mashup as promised. Enjoy!

Wu-Tang vs Daft Punk?!

Yes, they said it couldn't be done (or at least it probably SHOULDN'T be done), but once again my twisted little brain has come up with a very unlikely mashup. With the hot tune Ugodzilla (by U-God, member of Wu-Tang) remixed by Yuksek (a very very talented producer/remixologist), I thought it needed a little Daft Punk touch. After listening to Daft Punk's Discovery album on rotation recently, this headbobbing little idea came to mind. Why not take my two favorite tunes off that album, Superheros and Aerodynamic...and throw them over some Wu-Tang Killa Beez action? Hopefully this tickles your fancy guys, because its a Penned Madness exclusive! Enjoy, and please constructive feedback is always welcome!

Don't Call It A Comeback!

I've been dealing with a few issues here and there lately, which is the reason for my short absence from posting on the blog. Fear not, as I am here to bring you some pumpin' new tunes in exchange for my crummy attendance record on the blog the past week!

First up is a new unreleased remix of the 1993 mega dance jam, I Like 2 Move It, by Reel2Real. This red hot remix was put together by D.O.N.S. & DBS, two names quickly on the rise in the electro house scene. Only to be described as a hard hitting techy-electro-tribal big room banger, this remix will be sure to set the dance floors on fire. Supported by a bunch of big jocks lately, including Joey Seminara, and heard as current Ibiza anthem the past few weeks, this one is an ace up anyones sleeve for his or her upcoming gigs.

Reel2Real-I Like 2 Move It (DONS&DBN RMX)

This next tune is for all you crazy kids who are fans of that Nintendo 8-bit sound (GUILTY!). Here's a hot new unreleased jam by 8-Bit Boy, remixed by one of my favorite artists for years now, Dada Life. With a super catchy 8-bit melody, chopped up vocals, hard hitting kicks, and beautifully mastered sound, this is another tune I will be rockin' for the next couple weeks, and I hope you guys do to! Cheers!

The Suspense Is Killing Me (Dada Life Guerilla Fart Remix)

Up next is a fantastic remix of Weezer's "Troublemaker", that sounds like a cross between Justice and Soulwax. The guilty party who remixed this tune is none other than the master of Dooms Night, Azzido Da Bass. For all those in the more mainstream crowd, or anyone rocking clubs into that indie dance-rock sound, this one is for you! Nasty synths, great vocals, bitchin' guitars, and incredible sound production make this one a deadly little monster for your music library.

Troublemaker (Azzido Da Bass Club Mix)

Last but not least, this bomb is for fans of Sebastian Ledger, the brilliant mastermind has been responsible for a slew of productions in the realm of electro house and tech house over the past few years. Leger blew my mind with this remix of "Hello Piano" by Ink Fish and David West. With captivating bouncy beats, techy synth stabs, and one of the most beautiful piano break downs i've heard in a while...this is a MUST have for anyone interested in this realm of dance music. I've been rocking this jam lately, as has everyone else I've tipped off on this song. Snag it while its still hot!

Deadmau5 Works With Kool and The Gang?!

+

Deadmau5 vs Kool and the Gang? Yep. Have I lost my mind? Maybe. Either way, this brainchild of a mashup has been getting killer responses through Digitally Imported Radio, and more specifically my inbox. So I figure, why not make it a Penned Madness exclusive? If you haven't heard of Deadmau5, you're probably living under a rock. If you haven't heard of Kool and the Gang...you may be living in a cave! Where I got the idea for this is beyond me, maybe it was from listening to Deadmau5's recently massive release "Hi Friend", after listening to Jungle Boogie off of the Pulp Fiction sound track one too many times. I don't ask questions.

Combining the thickly sliced bass sounds of perhaps biggest electro house producer to date, the masters of feel good funk, edits, cuts, loops, detunes and a little sweat, I give you Kool & The Gang vs Deadmau5 & MC Flipside - Jungle Friend (Mark Starr's Jungle Boogie Beatz Mashup). Hope you enjoy!

Just the Tip...with DJ Mannes and Steve Lurkel

So some new things are coming to Tallahassee and I just wanted to keep you good people abreast to these trends. Just a little back story - Andrea Grant, Steve Lurkel, and myself, DJ Mannes, have been doing the DJ Duo thing around Tallahassee for quite some time now, going way back to October 2007 when we first teamed up for a party at our good friend Dan Morales' house. We didn't have any prior practice together but with very similar styles and tastes, we quickly blended (and quite nicely) into this DJ Dance Party unit. We then began playing numerous parties and small events together throughout town which leads us to the present - where we were recently offered a weekly spot as residents over a brand new dance night at a popular spot on the city drag. So without further ado, I would like to introduce to you....

Big Daddy's in Tallahassee is most famously known as one of the number #1 party bars in the nation as rated by Playboy magazine 2 years ago. A Tallahassee staple, Big Daddy's throws a number of different themed weekly events, most successful being the 80's/Indie dance night ever Monday night where they manage to cram 100+ into this hole in the wall. Normally closed on Tuesday nights, the owner Rob has given us a chance to test our mettle and throw our very own party. Our music, our rules, our special guests, it's everything one could hope for for a weekly gig.

To conclude this post, here is a track the was suggested to us by our very dear friend and fellow Tallahassee DJ, Mark Starr.
This will be opening the night off, just you wait...
