Hey!

The original of this track has been out for a while, but if you haven't heard this remix then you should check it out. It absolutely blows the original out of the water. It takes everything you ever loved about the original "Hey!" track from the legendary producers Diplo and Laidback Luke and puts a huge wobbly electro bass line on it.

Wobbly bass + Hoover = immediate infatuation

P.S. - Only a completely different note, if you haven't checked out that Smash Gordon mix that was posted a few posts back then do so. You will thank yourself.

<style type="Cansei de Ser Sexy">America's New Favorite Dance Kids</style>

Joining the Brotherhood of Bands that have been around for a hot minute but are now reaching "OMGZ THIS IS MY JAM, WE GOT TO DANCE NOW!" status, Brazilian dancesters CSS. Other recent additions to the Brotherhood include Hot Chip and MGMT, two other acts that have been doing what they do for a few years before, as scientists say, "blowing the fuck up."

We got CSS' newest album, "Donkey" at the station and it has been getting plenty of requests since coming through the doors. To those that don't know (those under rocks until a month ago) this ain't your daddy's Cascading Style Sheet CSS, but "Cansei de Ser Sexy" - or in their native tongue of Portuguese, "I got tired of being sexy."

You and me both fellas...

Here are some tracks from Donkey and other EPs and singles throughout the past few months... I have been playing some of these since late last year but that doesn't take away from them being fun, catchy and yes, sexy.

Santogold and M.I.A. - BFF

I think I am not only in saying that when I heard first heard Santogold mid-to-late 2007, I thought that she may have just been biting our dear M.I.A.'s style - cute, alt, likes neon, loves Brooklyn, working with Diplo and other famous M.I.A. producers, etc.
I had come to find out that she has been writing and making music for some tome now with many MANY other acts, but I still couldn't shake that feeling of "hmmm, I think I have seen this before." All those fears and such laid to rest when pictures of the Santo and M.I.A. began to emerge and I realized that they realized that we are all in this together... Sweet ain't it.

Now Santogold's Self-Titled album (or as I like to call it "I should have ate the third helping of Arts and Crafts") wasn't my favorite and some parts just fall short for me. But I have been loving recent remixes and new offerings I have seen sprouting up along these internets. So today I bring you some tracks I have been rocking, two Santogold/Diplo endeavors (one with Amanda Blank, who I am in love with) and a KILLER M.I.A. mix.

OH and before i go, everyone go over to THE LEMUR BLOG and wish our good friend a Happy Birthday! There is a killer collection of tracks he has collected from various blogs sending birthday wishes in the form of awesome musics. They are stellar. We unfortunately missed our chance to participate in this happening but we await the next opportunity. Anyhoo, HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEMUR!

Boy 8-Bit and his adventures in DJ-Land

So this chap from London has been one of my favorite computer DJs in the past year or so, a man by the name of Boy 8-Bit. Odds are you have been listening to Mr. 8-bit for sometime now, but for anyone that may have not heard of this rising star, here's some info. Based of of London, Boy 8-Bit was hailed by Diplo as "the most unique sounding club music out right now." Signed to the Mad Decent label some months afterwards, he just dropped an 4 track EP entitled, The Suspense is Killing Me - A track that has been circulating around and making waves at the "clubs" for quite some time.

I heart the titular track, and the enitre disc now that I think about it. The release contains 3 Original Boy 8-Bit Tracks and one remix of Suspense is Killing Me by Drop the Lime. I recommend picking this one up, Turntable Lab has your copy...

I have included some other Boy 8-Bit remixes that have come out over the past few months, some of my favorites...

Oh and go check out Mad Decent's Blog, they just posted this eerie "Halloween" mix by 8-bit as well...

Spoon - Don't You Evah Remixes

If anyone knows me, you know I fucking love Spoon. FuCkInG lOvE tHeM. Despite some not-so-choice career moves in my eyes ::cough Stranger than Fiction cough:: and a lackluster 5th album, I have always been a fan. 2001's Girls Can Tell and 2002's Kill the Moonlight are some of my favorite albums ever...EVAH!

Speaking of evahs, that's what the meat of this post is supposed to be about. Not just my love for Austin based Indie Rock acts, FuCkInG lOvE tHeM, but a Spoon single that has recently gotten some attention from some of the movers-and-shakers in this here dance scene.

On their newest album-2007's Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga-Spoon had a single entitled "Don't You Evah." Originally a Natural History tune, Spoon covered their opening act's tune and turned it into a hit. Since the album dropped in July of last year, Britt and the boys have decided that their cover single needed some pizazz and punch. So recently producer/DJs like Diplo, Matthew Dear, DJ Amaze And Alan Astor, and even other personal Manley favorite Indie Front man, mah boy Ted Leo have given this song their own treatments. I received the CD in the mail from Turntable Lab yesterday, I am not disappointed my friends.

The songs are all different in their own rights, with each reworker throwing their own personal flair in their mixes. Ted Leo's is rather slow and somber, Diplo's has a multicultural beat behind it, etc. I have included some of the tracks from the album that I feel stand out, Matthew Dear's digital spin and DJ Amaze And Alan Astor's dance jam versions - and also the original from The Natural History.

Hope you enjoy.

Verve Remixed 4

I loooove the Verve series of remixes and reworkings. Here are two cuts from the latest addition to the collection, Verve Remixed 4. One is a James Brown remix done by Kenny Dope and the other is Diplo taking on California Soul by Marlena Shaw.
