Nosaj ThinggnihT jasoN

Nosaj Thing is Jason Chung. A Los Angeles based trip-hop producer. He just dropped his new album world wide yesterday called Drift. You can get it here. It was made over the last three years, and I'm happy he took his time crafting this master piece. It is a beautiful array of sweeping synths, vocal stabs, side chained 8-bits grit, and beats and bass to make any session amazing. He's remixed the likes of Flying Lotus and Radiohead with more soon to come out. Please cop his album, it's fucking dope.

Here is a cut off his album that I can't stop playing.

Dis Iz 4 All My Smokers

Here in West Palm Beach its raining like crazy. It's the perfect day to stay in and do nothing. But when I do nothing - I do something. So if you got the papers I got the bud, and my boys Method and Red got the track. So this track is for all of you interneters who like get down on a rainy day. Also - cop their album, The Blackout! 2, immediately - by far the best rap album of the year. Easy.

Another Bob Sinclair Nightmare

I was pretty much done posting for today until I cam across this. Sigh. This new "gem" is going to be what you hear on the radio and at clubs for the next two years. Forget any hope of Grum blowing up this summer - it aint happening. Why? Because Paris Hilton's favorite DJ, Bob Sinclair, just put out his new track with awesome old schoolers, The Sugar Hill Gang. "The Lala Song" is destined to be a smash hit for everyone who hates to listen to house music outside of a night club while doing Jager shots and blowing lines in the vip while the dj train-wrecks on a vinyl Serato rig.

Now I don't want you to think that I'm supporting this. I am not in anyway telling you to support this song - I am simply warning you that exists and that all hopes of having a good summer are now lost.

Sugar Hill Gang, as much as I love Rappers Delight (and personally love the Redman cover best), they have lost their touch. There flow is whack, there rhymes are terrible. At a certain age you loose it. Not all rappers do but these guys have been working in the real world for quite sometime now and it shows. They lost their accents. Their swagger. And most annoyingly instead of trying to sound original just say "Do It" like they did in Rappers Delight.

Bob Sinclair has always been really good and takeing a good thing and killing it with a triton. This song is the perfect pop song I love to hate. It's danceable, its catchy and its utter (pardon my french) merde!

But - no matter how bad it is you don't have a choice but to listen to this more times then you ever could imagine in a given night. I expect that in one month I will go to a club and here this song at least....3 times. And Goddamnit if the dj isn't dead by the time he tries to drop it a fourth...... But I digress.

Good luck this summer - I'm hibernating.

Here is the myspace of these guys.

Die Verboten

So peoples check this out. Back in 2006 the brothers of Soulwax and Riton started a band called Die Verboten. But it's not just a band it's an audio visual art experience with artist Fergadelic teamed up. They are about to release there ep. And to celebrate it they have put together a limited addition vinyl package for £30 (not including shipping). There only 300 of the bad boys. I got to check out a little snippet on another site, and to say the least I am truly excited about this!

Here's the link to get your copy today.

HPD Does The Faint Right

Yo yo yo! What's good internet land? Today I got a PM exclusive (which on the internet these days lasts about....now) from our friends Hot Pink Delorean and Knowlton Walsh. It's a light-a-fire-under-your-ass remix of The Faint's song We Got Seduced. It's only 3 and half minutes long - but it's also 3 and half minutes of pure earth-quaking ass shaking jammy jams.
So if you like your beats fresh and your bass lines tough then you are going to like this one.

You can check these guys out (I'm sure mannes will do a better post on this upcoming party) this weekend in Tally at the Engine Room with Team Jaguar and others! Hell I might even make the drive up!

Party people - can yall get funky? Go and get on down!

Ooo La La

Big up to Jaimie Fanatic for linking this. This video is dope. If you can't speak french, this video was shot in Paris in one take, and besides the black bars there were no tricks involved - those girls are really naked. Reminds me of the video for Toe Jam.

Harlow Gold

Here is a pretty cool track that was in our inbox. It's called Harlow Gold by Downshift Records artist Khan Edison (better known by his real name Dan Bino) out of NY. It samples Bette Davis Eyes by Kim Karnes. Though I originally though - great another sample of this track is what I need. I gave it a shot and actually liked it. No word on when it will be out - but dug it enough to post it.

Heres the original it samples if you aren't familiar with it.

Blatta & Inesha

Dear World,

I have decided to embrace my heritage. I'm not as Swedish as you may have once thought (thought you know not much about me), I am in fact very Italian. You know who else is from Italy?

Crookers.

The Bloody Beetroots.

The Venga Boys.

And Blatta & Inesha.

They just did a very tasteful remix of Telepopmusik's new track called Ghost Girl. If that name, Telepopmusik, sounds familiar - it's because it should. They had a huge hit about 7 years ago with a track called Breathe. Now they are coming back with there third album. Should be awesome.

Blatta & Inesha are some serious up and coming producers and djs out of Italy. They have remixed artists like Umek and worked with artists like Congorock. I won't be surprised if these guys get to do an essential mix in the next year. Here is a link to there remix via mediafire.

Telepopmusik - Ghost Girl (Blatta & Inesha Rmx)

And here is a link to a mix they made to promote their tour in Portugal later this month!

paper covers rock

Observe the following from about 2:30 in. I doubt you'll have to squirm in your seat much to sit through the rest of it; it's arrestingly gorgeous. If you're still intact by the time the 2nd breakdown arrives at about 5:01, prepare yourself for a glacially enormous treat. I've heard they make drugs that can almost make you feel so amazing, but you probably don't want to take them.

capsule - JUMPER from now8p on Vimeo.

Capsule is a Japanese production duo I've been sitting on for a couple of years now, partly because I'm unsure how any sane person would react to them, but also because I'd feel a peculiar sense of remorse unleashing such a weapon on the American public.

It's pretty much par for course for the Japanese to take an element of western art and somehow manage to make the cliches in it fresh and renewed with their apparently demented sensibilities, but do not deny that the result doesn't often make you want to cry cathartic, sugary tears of joy and confusion. Sometimes, such as the case of this song and video in particular, the stride is caught so well that it has become much more than the sum of its western-made parts.

I have no idea where any of you will find this, so rightclicksave now and don't say a word about it.

Capsule - Jumper (320k)

Yes, yes, that's a good child. Enjoy it and don't wear it out too quickly.

Cinco De Mayo and I feel fine

Happy Cinco De Mayo! Here at Penned Madness we take drinking holidays very seriously. In fact, half of our team have already been drunk since midnight. We like to celebrate early. So while you guys are indulging in your tacos/burritos that you either got from Tijuana Flats, Chipotle, or Moe's you should enjoy some music - that has abso-fucking-lutley nothing to do with this holiday!

First up is a new sing from Last Japan. It's a great peak hour electro ripper called Oi! Though no affiliation with Oi punk stemming from Last Japans native waters.

Last Japan - Oi!

Next up is a smooth 80's progressive track by Dimitri From Paris with vocals that sound like old Janet Jackson with an english accent and remixed by none other then Lifelike. It's a great track to just listen to, to get drunk to - whatever.

Dimitri From Paris Feat. Electra 80 - Rock This Town (Lifelike Remix)

And to end off smoothly is a jamming track by an up and coming producer that is getting support from everyone in Paris is Das Glow

Das Glow - I Want To Wake Up With You

Alright thats it for me today. Expect a post about a sick party I'll be playing at with some new exclusive material for the weekend!

Happy Corona Day!
