Seeing DC's post talking about DRUM N BASS made me really want to post this song up on here! Seriously I got in to dance music because of tunes like this one right here. Seriously turn this shit up and punch the sky!!!
DJ Marky has been my favorite Drum & Bass dj since the first time I heard the above choon at my local record store. I use to be a trance dj - but always had a soft spot for melodic drum and bass. My boy Blackie at the time was working at the store and I was sifting through his vinyl collection. He had decided to abandon D&B entirely, and move on to experimental music. So he was selling off most of his collection for cheap. This record wasn't in his collection - but was sitting right next to it in the new section. I grabbed the record slipped it out of the sleeve and proceeded to drop the needle on to the vinyl. That was it. I was hooked - and did my best to expose as many people to the sounds of Brazilian D&B as I could. For the next year almost every morning I woke up to the sounds of the Brazilian samba guitars over 178 BPM's of pure funk driven Drum and Bass. I've only seen him dj once at Ultra a couple years back - and he blew me away. I sadly lost most of my mp3's of his stuff from a crashed drive. But I still have this record to this day and every once in a while dust it off and dance.
So Michael Angelakos & his Boston-based five-piece known as Passion Pit have a new album coming out on May 19th called "Manners" on NYC's Frenchkiss Records, & to hype up the blogosphere (& every Ableton-wielding bedroom remixer out there), they've launched a "remix contest" for their track (& presumed next single) "Little Secrets".
Aspiring remixers can get snippets of the song HERE & upload their mixes, which'll be judged online by Passion Pit fans now through May 15th. Passion Pit will "pick their five" favorite remixes to be included as part of the "Little Secrets" vinyl release. For contest rules & regulations, go HERE
For all you non knob twiddlers out there, peep the freshness that is the original version. This track just screams "Summer's almost here, it's time for FUN!"
& as an extra special bonus...peep the freshness that is the video for the first single, called "The Reeling". It's a glossy clip of patchwork eye candy, a collaborative effort by three NYC-based music video directors - Sam Stephens, Ariel Danziger & John Hobbs - now working together as "Hydra" (definitely a team to watch).
Passion Pit will be touring around the U.S. starting on May 23rd at the Sasquatch Festival in Washington, with a set at Tennesee's Bonnaroo Festival & winding up with two already sold-out dates at NYC's Bowery Ballroom. Do yourselves a favor & go catch 'em live - after all, you deserve to have that much fun!
Tomorrow night, our boy Urban Fabric will be hosting a brand new Computer Club remix on his radio show - Heavyweight Selection. Evidently this is a very special mix that has been send to a choice few radio stations for such an occasion. Should be a hoot and a holler, and full of all your favorite tunes as well as some killer unreleased shit. Which, not gonna lie, will blow your face clean off...
Hailing from the land of Luda and Underground Malls, DJs Basick and Jay Envy of Atlanta Georgia have recently teamed up to create a new duo for everyone to be on the look out for, BASICKxENVY. These two originally meet after spinning a couple local parties together and from there went about making music together, combining two of their favorite styles of dance music to form their own sound, a marriage of Electro and Bmore. Which, by the by, are two of this writer's favorite dance genres as well.
This is their debut track, "Do ATL HOEs," a remix of the Atlanta classic "ATL Hoe" by Baby D. The original track of ALT Hoe is and always will be a killer, especially within the Georgia Metropolis' City Limits, and the new remix follows right in its predecessor's geographical footsteps, but now, has the power to spread as a favorite to many other locations. Ah the power of the internet!
BONUS: Here's another track from another killer ATL DJ doing his Bmore thing, Captain Crunk... Short and sweet, but I dig the fuck out of this... Thanks again Captain for sending this over!
The long awaited original tracks, "Back Up in This" and "Zombies," from NYC's Designer Drugs that dropped in October have now risen again (pun oh so intended) with a collection of equally long awaited remixes... Gathering some of the biggest names in game including; Bird Peterson, NROTB, Nadastrom, Don Rimini, B. Rich, Michael Meds and Le Castle Vania + Rrrump + Computer Club - the IHEARTCOMIX electro duo are set to infect (again, pun totally intended) the summer with these revised tunes. Each remix themselves has a totally different feel and will be able to cross several different club genres across the playing field, a feat to say the least.
Go grab your own copy of a the remix collection from Turntable Lab...
ALSO!
Down below you will find some tastes of what is in store in this collection and for a very special treat, here is the Hot Pink Delorean remix of Zombies that was teased at on their WMC Minimix but has not yet been released.
This official remix, though it wasn't included on the release, is just as banging as every other track. This hard hitting reedit with shake and move any crowd into a stupor and with a very recognizable and beloved sample, this HPD will be a favorite in many people's digital crates...
I wasn't going to post this but when I saw Gaspard (of the Justice fame) with a shirt on that said, "I'm A Temporary Success." I had to post this. Justice - don't be temporary. Be forever! Man.
Oh by the way - the dude in the nike shirt is Thomas from Daft Punk. Thanks Nicky for the post.
Our favorite 40 year old 10 year old has done it again. This time with the twitter anthem yo. Follow us at the Penned Madness twitter, and follow me at my twitter!

Baltimore is located in central Maryland along the tidal portion of the Patapsco River, an arm of the Chesapeake Bay. Baltimore is sometimes referred to as Baltimore City in order to distinguish it from surrounding Baltimore County.
Did you also know that Baltimore, more specifically the area known as Fort Armistead Park, will also be the place to be June 6th of this very year of someone's lord. So here is the new single/music video off of Tiga's upcoming album Ciao. It's a strange electro glam anthem that I'm sure is going to be in every fashion show from Miami to Milan. It was produced by the most awesome Soulwax and has a great dark kind of ....Mannequin feel to it. I can't wait to hear the remixes - this track is going to be huge.
So, even though I love Justice - this game is pretty dope. Here's the story - Justice has stolen Daft Punk's (you) samples. And Daft (you) have to get them back by collecting them and points and killing obnoxious fans. When you combo it does the lyrics of harder better - and when die - it says "Over."
In other words its awesome - and have fun! Have an awesome weekend holler!
Hey everyone, stopping by to deliver you some goods. Here's the brand spankin' new Dada Life remix of Times Like These, by Albin Meyers... a fantastic cover of a foo fighters track turned into nasty bouncy electro house. I've been a fan of Dada Life for a very long time (since the release of their vinyl release called Big Time back in 2005), and they are yet to fail me! Don't skip this one.
It's been awhile. Things are moving. Pollen is on my car and everything else spring brings. Working smarter. I hosted a mixtape with a friend of mine and thought you guys would love to listen in on the project.
Hustlin'! This is a quick post, but I thought some of you out there would enjoy this bootleg by Asser. It's been making rounds lately, being supported by DJs such as Laidback Luke. I hadn't seen it on hype yet, so I figured I'd post it here first! Enjoy this insane bouncy fidgety bootleg.
For all you Pryda fans out there, I have a special treat for you. Don't ask me how, but the next forthcoming Pryda release happened to fall into my lap. No release date has been set for these three monsters, but here they are at 320kbs! (No really, I'm serious)
These are all sure to be future hits, dropped by the usual big jocks I'm sure (like most other Pryda releases). Lift sounds a bit much like Pjanoo for my liking but hell...I know I'd still dance to it...and I bet you will too. If you're a fan of Pryda/Eric Prydz/Cirez D, or futuristic sounding synths and nasty bass these are for you!
Oh man. So I love hip hop - but I haven't been that down with the "Main Stream" in a long while. But Jadakiss just dropped his new album and I had to get it! He does not disappoint at all! With killer guests, lines, and beats this album has it all. My favorite track on the album is surprisingly the last track with guest rapper Lil' Wayne. I don't love Lil' Wayne, and usually find most his tracks to be boring and totally off topic (though most rap songs are anyway). But this one is sick! So here it is.
Now onto some electro. First up is an amazing track by Chewy Chocolate Cookies off his new ep (which you must get!) appropriately titled Apocalypse. It reminds me of Phantom II in its ability to make one just want to punch babies. . . or Gary Coleman (same thing).
Chewy Chocolate Cookies - Apocalypse (Removed By Request)
Next is a pretty cool track by some peoples called One Foot in da Rave. Sickness. Give me more info please about these guys.
Hey everyone, I think I'm a bit overdue for an appearance on here so lets get to it! Today I have compiled a hodgepodge of tunes from various genres that I have been enjoying lately.
Lets start out with some unreleased Deadmau5 shall we? Here's the best quality (320) version of the unreleased monster jam "Catbread", which I've been supporting big time lately.
Up next is the massive massive MASSIVE remix of Sidney Samson's choon "Riverside", brilliantly re-done here by Rene Amesz. Stormer of a tune with bouncy bass, beats, and a huge build up. To my surprise I heard Boys Noize drop this remix during his set at Ultra Music Festival, a total switch up in his set from nasty driving beats to something more latin/tribal (I use those terms loosely, its not really a tribal-esque track). Needless to say the crowd went wild. Enjoy.
Last but not least is a killer mashup done by young gun Austin Snyder. I know what you're thinking...ANOTHER version of Bounce? Yes, but this one is quite fantastic. Excellent vocal editing and a perfect track to compliment the said sample. If you like tough basslines, some break beats and huge buildups...don't miss out! By the way, this is a Penned Madness exclusive so enjoy ya lucky bastards!
I don't think i will ever get over my love of all types of Thrash Music. Honestly all a song needs IMO is a SICK riff, HARD hitting drums and some HYPED up DESTROYING bass line. So What better then Electronic Hardcore or some other type of noise driven synth banginess thats just completely out of control!
Well here we go every one. Lets get this dance music underway!!!!
Got some remixs of Sonny. By the likes of Lazrtag, Dmndays, The Toxic Avenger, and Dan Sena. These songs fucking rule! Seriously put them on and try not to just feel the need to freak out uncontrollably!! Shit is super serious and on point for sure in these songs Every single one cuts right to the chase of what its gonna be about! NO fuckin pussy footin around here when it comes to something thats just meant to bang you out and leave you breathless on the dance floor thats for damn sure! The full Gypsyhook EP is available on itunes and amazon and includes all of these remixes plus the original track in 320kps. Totally worth the buy guys!!!! Heres the link to amazon!
Next up we have a group called Blood Shake!! These two hail from Brazil and just completely fucking OWN!!! Seriously great job!!! Every time a hear a sexy Spanish voice it melts my heart away! Love these tunes as much as I do!
Ok normally I wouldn't post a mix from another blog , but Code from The American Dream Team is my dood , and he is on top of his game 247. The American Dream Team needs to get more famous asap , Code is always sending me new bangers he made and his video artist is next level for real. I can play all of their track anywhere from a midwest rave (lol) to a bottle service spot. T.A.D.T defines what ''electro'' should be without all the bullshit , just raw quailty music. I also smell code's sideproject , and I'm digging it
Next up is my man Kraymer , this dood sends me a new bassline track of his every 5 days , I've played them all out , their all proper! Something to fucking boot about this guy , he has music out on RuNt Records..WHAT!. I wish I was on RuNT Records. Seriously though , Kraymer is about to be that next shit.
Here is a new one of mine , its already made into the playlists of some good names!! Real feel good piano stabby warping synths here , Good for all ages!
So Mux Mool is this cat from Brooklyn. And he dropped a new EP on iTunes not that long ago and it has some pretty cool shit on it. But the most stand out track for me - being that I love all things disco - is the track 2muxLuv. It's a fantastic crop-shop chop up of a disco house anthem. It's tasty - and I've played it out and it sounds great on the playa. So enjoy this little jem and check out the Mux.
Sometime I go through my old cds and folders and just see what I use to love years ago. As a dj I go through at least a hundred new tracks every week. And with a weekly radio show, I'm constantly trying to move on with new shit. But sometimes its nice to relive some old shit. Something classic. Something that makes you feel the exact same way you did when you first heard it. Something you can drop in conversation and people know what you are talking about.
The track I'm currently referring to is I Feel Music In Your Heart by Kris Menace and Lifelike - other wise known as Stars On 33. It's probably one of my favorite tracks of all time - easy. I have dropped it plenty of times and it makes everyone freak out. I can't even imagine rolling to this track (which I don't do anymore, thank you). So to get your Thursday feeling good and right here is your ear candy!
Italians do do it better it seems. Just take for example emerging electro stars Airys. Their blend of electro pop and Italian disco is surely going to sweep the blogs in no time flat. Hell, I might even be behind the times but we were just sent three tracks from these talented I-Ties and judging by the amount of hits to their myspace at this time, I don't think we missed the bus. Shit, we're the first stop.
So without further ado, I would like to introduce to you the new additions to my DJ sets and hopefully yours...Airys
