PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT - AVON

This is basically a disclaimer for this blog and all of us who write for it.
Awhile back I was contacted by my good friend Mike from Black Holes , claiming that their new track was leaked on this blog. It was stated that many people confirmed they got the track from this blog. Now , I have owned this track and have for 6 months or more , Ive been playing it at almost every show this year , the track is amazing and I have nothing but good wishes towards its street date and success. But to debunk this whole issue , after talking with every person that posts for P.M and digging/searching deep into our posts , this track has NEVER been posted. The only time this blog and that track has been related is when I posted a TEXT chart of my main set tracks that month. END OF STORY. If any of you can find this mp3 on this blog or prove you got it from here , and that your not mixing P.M up with another blog..please do!
-THE TRACK WE SPEAK OF IS BEING RELEASED SOON , AND I URGE YOU TO BUY IT!-

DJ AM - Fairwell

2009 has been a rough year for staying alve it seems, just recently it has claimed famed DJ to the stars Adam Goldstein aka DJ AM.

After surviving a plane crash a few months ago and being in the band Crazytown, DJ AM was reportedly found 5pm this afternoon within his SoHo apartment in NYC, allegedly of a drug overdose... though a rep for AM stresses that "the circumstances surrounding his death are unclear."

Either way, we have all lost a good man and party provider... So in tribute, we would like to include one of our favorite AM moments, where he dressed up in Daft Punk grab and rocked a Halloween party @ the Mansion in LA.

Also would like to mention, that AM's cameo in "Entourage" was awesome as well... the one where he snags these kicks from Turtle right before he is to pick them up...

Turtle eventually finds his fabled shoes, no worries...

Created To Get Around Existing Drug Laws

First and foremost I would like to share some banging tracks from a favorite of PennedMadness and myself...DESIGNER DRUGS.

I guess we can thank the hamsters from the new movie failure "G-Force" (I didn't see it, but the preview sufficed). THIS remix is guaranteed to LIGHT THE DANCE FLOOR ON FIRE.

Flo Rida feat. Nelly Furtado - Jump (DESIGNER DRUGS REMIX)

Maybe one of my favorite "Designer Drugs" remixes. Just nasty meng...JUST NASTY.

N.A.S.A feat. Ol Dirty Bastard, Karen O. and Fatlip - Strange Enough (DESIGNER DRUGS Radio Edit Remix)

Ok, so this post isn't over yet, I got some more tracks fo yo ass...so just...take it easy man.

I'm sure everyone is sick of hearing Kid Cudi saying "I Make Her Say, Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh"....however these remixes are sure to get any party started, particularly the "Afrojack" remix. The "Nadastrom" remix has late night written all over it.

Kid Cudi - Make Her Say f. Kanye West & Common (Afrojack Remix)

Kid Cudi - Make Her Say f. Kanye West & Common (Nadastrom 88 Dub)

Lastly we have a BANGING "Computer Club" remix of "DJ Sammy's" Feel The Love.

I'm not a huge fan of the original, but I will tell you my friend..."Computer Club" done good.

Barletta's Very Own Post

Barletta (AKA DJ Barletta) has been putting out a steady stream of quality remixes, edits, and original tracks for quite awhile now, and people are definitely starting to notice. Although We'd like to post every edit he's ever done, Barletta's impressive catalogue consisting of of over 70 tracks leaves us with no other option than to leave you with a choice few... for now!

First up- two of Barletta's newest remixes! The first track appears on the Disco Villians long awaited EP entitled "We Just Came To Get The Party Started" along with remixes by Dirty Disco Youth, LAZRtag, and Night Drugs. You can by the full EP on Beatport or iTunes .

The Disco Villains - We Just Came to Get the Party Started (DJ Barletta Remix)

The second of Barletta's newest mixes is an edit of Metric’s ‘Help I’m Alive.’ We'll always have a soft spot for Metric, and Barletta's edit of this track makes it one that both Barletta and Metric fans alike can, and will, appreciate.

Metric - Help I'm Alive (Barletta Edit)

'Get Drunk' is THE go-to track to get ANY party started. With Kid Cranberry's clever rhymes and and Barletta's party-heavy production you can't go wrong!

Kid Cranberry & Dj Barletta - Get Drunk

And here's a little mix that I put together consisting of Barletta's remix of PseudoNympho's track 'Blow It Up Your Nose' and the always relevant Blink-182 track 'Every Time I Look for You the Sun Goes Down.' Enjoy!

On and On and On and On

Let's talk about classics for a moment (in the context of music, of course). What is a classic? What does it mean to be a classic? How long does a song have to be around for it to be considered a classic?

As a noun, a classic is considered to be "An artist, author, or work generally considered to be of the highest rank or excellence, especially one of enduring significance." and "A work recognized as definitive in its field."

As an adjective, a classic is considered as "Belonging to the highest rank or class." and "Having lasting significance or worth."

What a classic means to me, is a song that changes the course of one's life. One song, that single handedly defines a moment that alters someone's entire course. A song that when you listen to it reminds you of everything. A song that no matter how many years go by, you still can remember where you were when you first heard it. A song that when you think about where you currently are, explains everything.

Some people may have a song like that by their favorite band, favorite rapper, or favorite movie score. But mine isn't by my favorite band (which is The Strokes), or my favorite rapper (Guru), or my favorite movie score (Requiem for a Dream), but is one song by a group that changed my life for ever. That group is Orbital.

The song was introduced to me 14 years ago, I was 9 at the time. I was into bands like Nirvana, and rappers like Snoop Doggy Dogg, I had no real concrete idea what "techno" was. I really only understood electronic music through movies like Mortal Kombat. The rave scene, though irrelevant to me at the time, was very much alive back then and my only real connection to that scene was through my friends older brothers and through one of my baby sitters, (though I use that term loosely). It was actually this baby sitter, if you will, that introduced me to this song. I contested - all I wanted to listen to was Alice & Chains, and Porno For Pyros (before they became Jane's Addiction)! But he told me, "This is the most important and beautiful song you will ever hear." Pushed play on his tape deck in his car. The song came on, and I sat in the back seat of his Cobra and listened.

I could feel all the chemicals in my brain rearranging to try comprehend the sounds that were coming through the speaker. I can remember just nodding along as my ears digested the sounds, trying to comprehend what was going on, and how it was made. Trying to demolecularize the song to it's rawest components. I was 9 at the time and had no idea what New York compression, tempo synching, reverse sampling, or even what sequencing was. All I knew was that what I just heard must be what Heaven, if there even is such a place, must be like.

That song changed my life forever. And is still my all time favorite song, even though it's not by my favorite band, or rapper, or movie. It's my favorite song to dance to, to drive to, to love to, to live to, to act stupid to, to morn to, to eat to, to shower to, to run to, to play. That song that forever changed my life is called Halcyon + On + On. And I hope it does the same to you, that it did for me. Enjoy what I consider to be a true classic.

You Killed It Meng

Our very own VIKING is doing it up these days. Last friday he performed with DATA and SINDEN @ Webster Hall in NYC and then took the stage the next day @ The Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival w/ some other nasty producers/DJs like "Designer Drugs" & "Body Language".

Well let me get to the point here. I've had this track on repeat for the past hour or so and I can't get enough of it. VIKING remixed The Sounds new single "No One Sleeps When I'm Awake" and they are going to be using this remix to promote to their US Tour.

For real though...this shit is epic and puts the original to shame. I don't want to describe it anymore because you just need to listen to it NOW!

B. Rich

B. Rich, part of the Party Like Us/Palms Out Sounds crew, has been honing his craft and is consistently showing us that he's as versatile as a Swiss army knife. After hearing his collaboration with Whiskey Pete a few months back, we knew there would be many solid tracks from Pittsburgh's B. Rich.

His most recent collaboration with Reese is similar to the Whiskey Pete track "Ain't Here to Party" in that there's the anthemic catchy chorus that will be stuck in your head for days. The more somber tone of the track only adds to the intensity, chills friends, chills.

B. Rich + Reese - Make Me Dance

B. Rich's remix of La Roux's "Tigerlily" is one of those tracks that just makes you feel so bad ass, that you can't help but just imagine yourself in a brutal barroom knife fight. La Roux's spacious crooning was meant for the intensity that B. Rich delivers.

Calabria (HPD Remix) - Best Remix of 2009

Our personal friends Hot Pink Delorean have just allowed us to post another one of their killer remixes - their take on Enur's dance number "Calabria." Which of course is Spanish for "holy fuck, this is my jam"

After receiving this gem a few months ago, it has been a staple of every one of our party sets and does not disappoint - it seriously makes the whole club shake and ache.

Such a strong position to say "Best Remix of 2009" I realize, but I assure you, my thoughts on this song are not the product of my hyperactive hyperbole gland.

*If this track was around millions of years ago, it would be how Man started cooking food.
*The clown from "IT" was originally named after this song but that was changed when it was realized he wasn't sick enough.
*This remix is what cocaine wants to be.
*Sliced bread feels inferior when placed next to this track.
*This track is the equivalent of drinking water from the fountain of youth out of the holy grail while getting a blowjob.
*The 463rd digit in Pi is this track, then it just repeats over and over.
*Looking directly into this track will cause you to go either blind or mad.
*This remix is nature's response and apology for cancer...

You get the idea...

Power Plant Provides

It's such a good feeling when you find a band/artist worthy one's precious listening time. It's even better when you personal know such musicians and you can physically shake their hand and say "Thank you, thank you for trying to alleviate the amount suck around me and out in the world in general."

That's what I am feeling right about now...

Straight out of Tallahassee, my personal base of operations, comes the keyboard/drum duo Power Plant and their special brand of dance music. This infectious act have been staples on the Tallahassee music scene for the past few years, building a small army of rabid followers before ever even properly releasing a track. Their high energy instrumental dance rock, and even more high energy listeners, propelled the two from "friend's band" to "the band" status within town, packing both house and venue show alike.

Recently the duo, along with some very dedicated friends, have finished recording their LP, "Provides," and began hosting the album for digital download. Within its first day of digital release, this 10 song collection found it's way into the hands of almost 900 people. A proper CD package is in the works, as well as rumors of a vinyl release and remix album. Until then though, enjoy some cuts that are my personal favorites or download the whole album for free @ http://powerplantprovides.com/

TAKING IT BACK

Photobucket

Learn what that is above if you dont know. This might help. This track '2 the rhythm' from Sound Factory came out in 1993 on RCA after 'Understand This Groove' blew up. The piano stabs can be heard in countless new track. Below the original is a brand new bootleg remix of '2 the Rhythm' that is full of high pitched sliding noises and everything you need to please the 15 - 45 year old rave crowd. Enjoy

Sound Factory - 2 The Rhythm (Figure Brooklyn Fire Rave Bootleg)

Bonus!
The whole reason for me remixing this track and even touching something this classic ,
is the man linked below. Tommie sent the mp3 to me and said , 'Make a bootleg of this , it'll be amazing'' , or something of that sort. A while back Barletta and Tommie knocked out this tune that got so much play from so many people. Get it!

Dskotek ...is made of metal?

Photobucket

Well , it seems that way with all the remixes their cranking out like fucking robots. I've always been supporting this LA duo since I've found them , and they've always gotten proper internet hype. But now .. they gotten support from major artists like Lee Mortimer and B. Rich! A couple months ago , they dove head first into this 'wobble revolution'' , and their now sailing smooth in those waters! They got alot signed off to Beatport now too , their ep of originals and alot of remixes will be droppping soon , keep a look out for those. I have also just been told that instead of Jesse gigging out using the Dskotek name , Jesse and his partner Alex will be performing live very soon! Anyway , getting into the free shit , I offer to you 4 tracks , all you can find out there in the slew of links , but I'll put them up for the PM family to grab. I'll def. be dropping this Daft Punk remix when I play Heist this month to show love! Enjoy

Bring That Funky Beat Back

Mustache Florida's pervious post got me youtube searching for this video. [Great Post btw] This timeless video by Kool & The Gang never gets old and even though we missed them perform at a local community college two years ago, here is a video of what everyone who didn't attend missed out on. It's a ten minute video, and we really think you should watch all the great solos, or at least skip through to them, first the sax, guitar, then piano. They're on a guitar hero tip. Lets keep the nostalgia alive with some not so old school tracks to help us remember of the places and people we were with when we first heard them.

The Bird and The Bee - Fucking Boyfriend (Peaches Remix)

Congorock - Runark (His Majesty Andre 'Growl' Remix)

Congorock just paid a visit to L.A last week and delivered a mind blowing performance at Cinespace right before Etienne De Crecy went on. Unfortunately Etienne's set got so out of control a whole stack of subs decided to blow up and made the whole place smell like a burnt weave. So in honor of all great Itlian Dj's, here's a great remix by His Majesty Andre 'Growl' of Congorock's - Runark.

'AURA'

Photobucket

Some of you might have seen this track posted before , awhile ago 'Aura' got signed and the link had to be made dead. 'Aura' has been out on Beatport for a while now , and some great things have came from it. Tommie Sunshine listed it in his new Beatport Chart as number 3 for his favorite songs this summer. Zodiac Cartel put it in his new mixtape , and so many good names have been playing it out! Well now , it's time for the remixes to drop on Beatport. Im not boasting the line up of the remixes because its my project , but everything truly killed their remix.

The line up for remixes is as follows - Rob Threezy , Rampage , Flufftronix , Kraymer , Bul!m!atron , Captain Crunk , and Future Kill! Everyone did such a great job on this project that I wish I could give them all away , but I cant. So .. I'm giving all you P.M readers 'Aura' the Original mix. If you do have 'Aura' , I promise you that you do not have this final master (The label loaded up the wrong version and Beatport won't load up the new one until the remixes drop..BOO!) Anyways here is my favorite track I've made..House Pianos into Wobbles , even with a Dubstep drop!!!

So. Enjoy 'Aura'!

Menace Beach 7-24-09

A couple Friday's ago was Menace Beach. It was easily one of my top 4 favorite parties, and at least for now my favorite set of all time! I could go into the awesomeness that was that night but, why speak about things when we have the audio to share.

There are two issues. One, is that I missed the first like 15 minutes of Shane Lockard's set. And only about 40 minutes of my set was recorded. Which sucks, but whatever the rest of the night was amazing!

So here they are separated, in order of appearance and tasty!
